JB Performance and Reconditioning practices a cash based physical therapy model. As this is a new concept in Indiana and the Fort Wayne area, keep reading to find out what cash PT is and some of the benefits this model offers compared to the traditional medical model.

What does cash-based physical therapy mean?
As you probably guessed from the name, this means that you pay for service at the time of treatment. We do not bill or accept insurance and are not contracted with any insurance companies. We accept cash, checks, HSA, FSA and all major credit cards. While we do not bill insurance directly, we will provide you with a detailed superbill that can be submitted to your insurance company for potential reimbursement. This paperwork will specify that reimbursement should be send directly to you. *It is advised that you check with your insurance company if they require a doctor's referral for reimbursement purposes.
Why is this model used at JB Performance and Reconditioning?
Yes, we understand that not going through your insurance provider for physical therapy can be a scary thought, but hear us out on why you should consider it. At JB Performance and Reconditioning we believe in providing physical therapy services according to individual needs and goals, rather than on the basis of your insurance benefits. In many ways, insurance companies dictate or strongly influence the treatment that patients receive at “in-network” clinics, and we refuse to allow that to be the case. Too often in the the traditional model people are rushed through appointments, hands-on time is reduced and often non-existent, while your PT is trying to help too many other patients at the same time. A lot of this is due to insurance companies dictating the services you receive, not your healthcare provider.
Due to being frustrated with this less than optimal care, we wanted to create a different model to help our community. You can expect us to spend one-on-one time with you during treatment sessions in order to allow us the ability to best identify the problem, treat, and educate you. At JB Performance and Reconditioning all services will be performed by a licensed Doctor of Physical Therapy. Our individualized sessions lead to faster results and quicker outcomes which can save you both time and money. Most importantly, you dictate how much care you need! Our philosophy places you in front of the healthcare practitioner while eliminating all the other healthcare red tape.

Did you know that you can actually save money with cash based physical therapy?
Yes, you read that right. Choosing to not use your insurance can actually save you time and money. How is this possible? While most PT clinics see you 3x a week with many other patients at the same time, we usually see you 1x/week in most cases. You tend to need less visits, and in the long run may end up spending less with us than a traditional PT practice when you consider your deductible, co-pay, and extra visits needed.

However, there are many factors to consider as you weigh your options for PT. To help you through this confusing and sometime stressful process we put together a guide to help you determine your out of network benefits and advise for getting reimbursement. Why CAsh Based Physical Therapy?
IMPORTANT: For Medicare Beneficiaries
*Physical Therapy services only

The US government has laws that control where Medicare beneficiaries can spend their healthcare dollars. Because we are not Participating Medicare Providers, we can only accept Medicare beneficiaries as patients when the patient does not want Medicare billed for any PT services. This request to not involve Medicare in payment must be made up front by the patient and be made of the patient’s own free will.
In other words, if you’re a Medicare beneficiary and are adamant about seeing us for your care even though we are not participating Medicare providers, we can help. However, the only way we can provide you with PT services is when you truly don’t want Medicare involved and you ask up front that Medicare not be billed or involved in your physical therapy care.
If you do want to use your Medicare benefits for physical therapy, we cannot provide you with treatment at our clinic but we can help you find a good Medicare provider in your area.
FAQ
Do I need to pay a co-pay?
No; because we don't take insurance, there is no co-pay involved.
Can I seek reimbursement independently?
Yes, we will generate a receipt upon request that can be sent to your insurance company. If you have met your out-of-network deductible, then you may qualify for a full or partial reimbursement of your costs. This varies for everyones insurance, and we highly recommend that you contact your insurance company to learn the details of your plan. The contact information is typically found on your insurance card.
Do you accept HSA or FSA credit cards as forms of payment?
Yes, but you may need a doctor's prescription to qualify the necessity of therapy. Check your FSA/HSA plan.
